Publishing to 4sightmagazine.com Using FrontPage - A Quick Tutorial

The following shows how to publish your web site to www.4sightmagazine.com using FrontPage 2002.  The process for FrontPage 2000 should look about the same.  Earlier FrontPage versions should look similar, but I'm not sure.

Publishing using other software will be similar in principle, but the appearance of the process will vary.  Some students may need to publish using FTP (file transfer protocol).  If your HTML editor does not have publishing ability, I may need to help you set up your method of publishing on an individual basis.

After your index.htm web page has been made, you can copy it (publish) to the 4sightmagazine web site.

The first time you try to publish, you will see something like this:

Type in the URL exactly as shown, except substitute your account name where 'teststudent' is shown.

Then you will get a username/password box.  Fill in the appropriate username/password.

You can have Front Page remember your password.  If you are using a private computer, I recommend that you click the box.

After you are admitted to the web site, the screen will look something like this:

The left side is what is on your computer.  The right side is what is on the web site.  Because I put up some files to test your connection, there may already be an index.htm page and an image file.  Do not remove or change any folder that FrontPage created (such as _private).

After your first successful publish, you can then use the publishing shortcut button.
