Intro

Welcome to Beginning Web Authoring. This 10-week course will require your attention to weekly lectures, readings, exercises, and project deliverables. We'll work at a fast pace so expect to show up in class each day.

Note that I have extensive office hours. I am here to provide the individual attention you may need in lieu of a lab session.

Before we get to week 3, where we plan the site you'll be building the rest of the term, please jot down ideas you have for potential site topics. Consider a topic related to a hobby, business, organization, student club, etc. The following subjects will not be allowed: party sites, adult content, or weapons.

I'll see you in class Monday at 9:00am. Be on time and sit up front.

When using the Bb forums, remember to:

Please follow these troubleshooting steps in this order:

  1. Attend class and ask lots of questions.
    • If you are not attending class then you'll miss a lot of detail that will help you succeed each week.
    • Not every single thing you need to know is written in the lecture materials.
    • If you write down everything I have on the board, listen and watch more closely, and ask more questions in class, you'll have an easier time understanding the instructions when you work on your own.
  2. Use the troubleshooting checklist.
    • I'll go over each item as we learn it.
  3. Ask for help in the weekly forum.
    • So other students can help you and earn a point.
    • So you can earn the weekly forum point.
  4. Visit office hours.
    • Drop by or email me for an appointment if you can't make office hours.
  5. Email the instructor (last resort).

Update Windows Folder settings

To avoid double file extensions, please uncheck the default Settings->Control Panel->Folder Options->View->Hide extensions for know file types option.
