Projects are field research studies using the concepts and procedures learned in the course. The instructions for each project explain the procedures and what goes into your report. Your grade on each project will be based on the degree to which a project includes and the report presents clear objectives, proper design, correct analysis, and reasonable interpretation.

The purpose of the projects is not to discover new research findings (but congratulations if you do!). Rather the projects and their reports are practical demonstrations of your understanding of the course material.

Hint: Be sure to show the measurement units of all values, even in intermediate calculations.

Measuring cover in the field

Measuring stand basal area

Preparing a study plan

Conducting a simple random sampling field study
