Schedule for BB 450/550 Ecampus for Spring Term, 2017

This is the page for the ECAMPUS version of BB 450/550. The CLASSROOM version is different and should not be used by ECAMPUS students, nor should the ECAMPUS version be used by CLASSROOM students) The syllabus is required reading in this course. Download it HERE. Please note that textbook for this course is electronic and FREE. It is called "Biochemistry Free For All" and can be downloaded HERE. There are 5 assignments that must be turned in for this class. All are in the right column. The solutions to the problems are contained in the videos. For this reason, assignments are not graded as right/wrong, but you are given credit for turning them in within the assigned deadlines. You will not see a grade for them in Canvas. All other materials (activities, outlines, readings, and problems) are for your benefit only. If you find them helpful, great. If you don't find them helpful, there is no need to do any of them because you are not responsible for them. You are only responsible for material covered in the lectures entitled "YouTube Video" in the second column.

You can get my courses on iTunesU HERE. We will sing numerous songs during the term. You can see and download recordings of them HERE.
You can also lot a LOT of my other free materials HERE.

Visuals

This column contains visuals and outlines used in the lecture videos

Topics / Videos / Outlines / Limericks

This column contains lecture videos, highlights, and limericks (for fun). You are responsible for content in the lecture videos.

Problems / Activities / Readings

All materials in this column are completely optional. If they are helpful to you, then please use them. If they are not, there is nothing in them that you are responsible for.  You are only responsible for what I say in lecture.  These activities and problems are not additional responsibilities.

Assignments

All problems in this column are assignments that must be turned in through Canvas no later than the noted deadlines. Late uploading will result in a grade of zero for the assignment.  Please note that the same assignments can also be downloaded through the Canvas Files section

Assignments may be submitted in Word, PDF, or JPEG formats

May 1-3

Exam I

The format for all exams in BB 450 ecampus is a simple multiple choice format. It is different than the format used in the classroom course. Since I only provide old exams to show the format, I do not provide old exams for multiple choice exams, since the format is one everyone knows. I do not recommend using old exams as study guides as they throw students off when material changes from one term to the next - see syllabus.

The exam must be started and completed under the supervision of an ecampus-approved proctor within a window that begins on May 1 at 8:00 a.m. U.S. Pacific time and ends at 5:00 p.m. U.S. Pacific time on May 3.

Windows for beginning proctored exams (such as on Proctor U) close somewhat before the window described here closes. You MUST be sure to get your proctored exam started within the window of the proctor. This is your responsiblity and failure to get this taken care of may result in a score of zero.

You may not use notes or calculators on this exam. If you are using ProctorU please note that you will ONLY be allowed to use a whiteboard or chalkboard for scratch paper. No other type of scratch paper is allowed. If you are not using Proctor U, you may use a blank piece of scratch paper provided by your proctor.

June 12-14

Comprehensive Final Exam

The exam must be started and completed under the supervision of an ecampus-approved proctor within a window that begins on June 12 at 8:00 a.m. U.S. Pacific time and ends at 5:00 p.m. U.S. Pacific time on June 14.

On this exam ONLY, you are allowed to bring and use one 5x8 inch notecard with hand-filled notes (both sides). No print-outs of any sort allowed. You do not have to get the notecard from me, but you need to turn it in to the proctor (or destroy it) when you are through. If you are using ProctorU please note that you will ONLY be allowed to use a whiteboard or chalkboard for scratch paper. No other type of scratch paper is allowed. If you are not using Proctor U, you may use a blank piece of scratch paper provided by your proctor.

I will provide you with access to your answers and the correct answers for this exam AFTER the window for taking it has completely closed.

This exam will have 40-50 questions (about 25% on material since the last exam) and you will have 110 minutes to take the exam.

Good luck to you.
I hope you have enjoyed and learned a lot in my class.
