ABC Management
Adaptive, bioregional, and cooperative (ABC) management is a way of
approaching watershed management. - Adaptive management
means learning from experiments that carefully monitor and adjust
what is done according to experience.
- Bioregional management means
selecting regions that have biological and cultural integrity.
- Cooperative management combines government
policymakers, scientists,
and the public to give people more of a stake in decisions about
ecosystem uses.
These concepts are discussed in Fisheries 19(2): 20-26 and
Illahee
10(4): 304-308.
