Hi there! My name is Meagan and I'm about to finish up my M.S. here in the College of Forestry. My research involves exploring bioenergy systems that generate electricity and/or heat, and their relationship to forest restoration in eastern Oregon. I'm fascinated by this topic because it falls at the intersection of so many issues relevant to the rural US West - fire ecology, public land management, renewable energy, transitioning economies, and community resilience. As someone with family ties to the region, it's personally interesting too.
Inspiration Dissemination is a program on 88.7fm KBVR, Corvallis – Oregon State University’s student-run radio station. Two graduate students, Joey Hulbert and Zhian Kamvar, first aired the show on January 29th, 2012. Every Sunday, they invite an OSU graduate student to discuss their experiences and research project live over the radio at 7:00pm Pacific Standard Time. Each episode is recorded and kept for future post-production to create an episode for our podcast. A list of previous guests can be found here with the upcoming schedule listed here.
Each episode features a discussion about the guest's experiences before starting in their program, information about their program, details regarding what they are researching and why, as well as advice for other graduate and undergraduate students who may be listening.
