Airports

Two major airports are located in Oregon - The Portland International Airport and the Eugene Airport.

The Portland International Airport is located approximately 140 miles north and east of Newport and is the largest. The airport is served by many international airlines.

The Eugene Airport is located approximately 88 miles south and east of Newport. The airport is served by four air carriers: America West, Horizon Air, United Airlines and United Express.

Maps of Newport are available. Participants will be responsible for making their own lodging arrangements and we strongly urge you to make reservations early, since accommodations in the immediate area are limited.

A block of rooms have been reserved for conference participants at the Best Western Agate Beach. PLEASE NOTE:Rooms are blocked until December 30, 2005 at a rate of US$65/night + $10 each additional person and 9% tax). You may book your reservations "online" by clicking on the hotel links above. Please mention the "Western Groundfish Conference" when making your reservation to obtain the preferred rate.

Hatfield Marine Science Center Visiting Scientist & Student Housing

The Center’s on-site housing has a maximum capacity for approximately 100 visitors. There are 16 furnished one-bedroom apartments with full kitchens and bath, each of which sleeps up to four. Two three-bedroom manufactured homes are fully furnished, including laundry facilities, and are handicapped accessible. Four bunkhouse modules each sleep up to eight. Each bunkhouse has its own fully equipped kitchen across the courtyard in the dining hall. Full laundry facilities are available for residents.

Conference Location
