Welcome to the 81st year of TRIAD at Oregon State University !
As a member, or former member, of TRIAD, you are familiar with the concept of a faculty club where people can meet others from across campus in a comfortable, collegial setting. You may not know that significant changes approved in the TRIAD by-laws last spring now open membership to the entire OSU faculty community. Any OSU faculty member (including professional faculty and extension faculty) can join TRIAD by filling out a membership application form and paying dues. TRIAD has truly become OSU's faculty club.
You have probably noticed an increasing emphasis on faculty participation in interdisciplinary groups, both for research and for teaching. TRIAD is the one place where faculty members can meet regularly with their colleagues from around campus in an informal setting.
The TRIAD Executive Committee is working to attract new members and to increase the visibility and presence of the TRIAD Club on the OSU campus. There will be a TRIAD exhibition booth set up on University Day to help in this endeavor. We encourage current and former members to attend TRIAD meetings this fall and help us welcome what we hope will be a large group of new active members.
Note that we meet in Memorial Union 109 as a regular meeting place every week for the 10 weeks of each term.
Good news is that lunches for active TRIAD members this year will be $8 --- a dollar less than last year! Inactive members and their guests will pay $9. Walk-in visitors will pay $10. Please send your $30 membership fee to TRIAD Treasurer Kate Hunter-Zaworski, School of Civil and Construction Engineering, Owen 220, Corvallis , OR 97331-3212. Checks should be made payable to OSU Triad Club.
So, all put Thursdays at noon on your calendar, send in your dues, and enjoy the year!
Regards,
The TRIAD Executive Committee
TRIAD invites OSU faculty members to join our organization in order to enjoy networking with other faculty and hearing engaging speakers at our weekly lunch meetings. Prospective members are any individuals at OSU with faculty status. We seek members with a wide diversity of perspective and backgrounds. If interested, please contact an officer for more information.
We meet weekly on Thursdays when the University is in session, except during the summer, and we have several special functions during the year.
Members are expected to be “active” members — i.e., they attend regularly and perhaps serve on one of the club's committees. In addition to annual dues (pro-rated for new members), members are charged for a minimum of six meals each term. Members may request to be “inactive” for a term if schedules preclude luncheon meetings on Thursday noon (or longer if on sabbatical or other leave). Inactive members are welcome to attend meetings by given prior notice to the secretary.
