Pride 2005, held May 9th thru May 13th, was a great success. Queer Pride Week is held every spring term so celebrate with us this 2006!

    The booth in the MU Quad is the headquarters of the Pride festivities this year. At the booth you can find: information about OSU LGBT services and organizations, printed material for free, bookmarks, information on the Pride celebration, volunteer signups, and the place to redeem Pride Bucks. Stop by to say hi and pick up some cool schwag!

      Gender Journeys - MU Joyce Powell Leadership Room
    May 6, 2005 -- 1:00-4:00pm
    This informative and interactive presentation will help you understand the transgender experience- definitions and cultural misconceptions. Learn about gender identity at OSU, become aware of potential harassment and discrimination issues, and create practical and positive approaches for integrating transitioning students/employees.

      *FREE* Kickoff BBQ - MU Quad
    Monday, May 9, 2005 -- 11:00-1:00pm
    Join us for the opening BBQ of Queer Pride Week, with music and free food in the quad. A note to BBQ purists: the meal won't be traditional barbeque grill food, although it will be tasty - and include vegan-friendly options.

    Learn what parenting in a heterosexist society is like for same sex parents and parents of LGBTQQI children. Information will be provided through a short film with first hand knowledge from a panel of parents willing to answer your burning questions.

      Art Show and Reception - Pride Center
    Monday, May 9, 2005 -- 3:00-4:30pm
    Reception and opening of the Pride Week Art Show in the Pride Center. Hors d'ouevures will be served, and student art will be posted throughout the center.

      Performance: Clearly Marked - MU East International Forum
    Monday, May 9, 2005 -- 5:30-7:00pm
    Clearly Marked is a one-person show that grapples with religion, body image, gender, sexuality, and the perennial bathroom problem- not to mention the little Jewish Ambassador, how gender is a highway, strategic lesbianism, gay marriage, and how to explain it all to your Aunt Petunia in a way that doesn't completely freak her out.

      Rainbow Continuum - Women's Center
    Monday, May 9, 2005 -- 7:00-9:00pm
    Join us for the weekly meeting of the Rainbow Continuum, OSU's student social organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex students and their allies. Free pizza will be provided.

      Drag Racing - MU Quad
    Tuesday, May 10, 2005 -- 12:00-1:00pm
    Think you know what a drag race is? Think again, as participants transform their gender and compete in a campy, intense training course to win cool prizes and the proclamation of "Drag Champion." Show up to participate, or just watch and root for your favorite contestant!
      De-Constructing Gender - MU 208
    Tuesday, May 10, 2005 -- 1:00-3:00pm
    This program will cover gender identity, expression and the gender binary, including what this means to each of us. Topics that will be touched on: transgender issues, the existence of gender identities outside of male, female, or transgender, and how gender stereotyping affects everyone regardless of their gender identity.
      Section 20: Equally Out, Strong, United - MU East International Forum
    Tuesday, May 10, 2005 -- 4:00-6:00pm
    This event will provide an opportunity for community members to gain valuable information about state, local and federal laws, such as section 20 of the Oregon Constitution, in order to understand legal and political issues facing the LGBTQQIA community.

    A workshop by Erin O'Brien on gender, sexuality, and transnational identity.

      Performance: The Good, the Bad, and the Funny About the LGBT Experience -- Milam Auditorium
    Wednesday, May 11, 2005 -- 3:00-4:30pm
    A touching and humorous stage performance by Erin O'Brien on growing up gay, the parallels between interracial relationships and same sex marriage, discrimination, and being an LGBT Buddhist in a communist country.

      Film: Latter Days - MU Main Lounge
    Wednesday, May 11, 2005 -- 6:00-8:00pm
    Christian played by Wes Ramsey, a hunky West Hollywood party boy gets more than he bargains for when he tries to seduce Elder Aaron Davis, played by Steve Sandvoss, a sexually confused Mormon missionary who moves into his apartment complex. The encounter shatters each boy's reality and draws the two into a passionate romance that risks destroying their lives. Latter Days is a charming, sexy, and moving tale that will leave you believing in the transformational power of love.

      Food, Fun, Festivities: Slumber Party! - Pride center
    Wednesday, May 11, 2005 -- 8:00pm - Overnight
    Celebrate with the LGBTQQIA community in a relaxed social atmosphere with food, karaoke, movies and a campfire. There will also be a slumber party in the Pride Center, and if you're interested make sure you have a blanket or a sleeping bag available. Bring some friends along or join us for fun, festivities throughout the night - this event is free and open to everyone!

    Thursday, May 12, 2005 -- 12:00-2:00pm
    Bring your swim trunks for some wrasslin' in a pool of slime and stay for the Condom Olympics, or just come to watch some good ol' fun in the quad as we get down and dirty with safer sex paraphernalia!

      Fun in the Sun for Kids - MU Quad
    Thursday, May 12, 2005 -- 2:00-5:00pm
    Family oriented event including activities such as crafts, games, pinatas, and a candy hunt. Educational information will be provided for parents to take home. Bring the entire family for an afternoon of fun and games. Snacks provided.

      Polyamory: Loving Without Limits -- MU 208
    Thursday, May 12, 2005 -- 2:00-3:30pm
    This program on polyamory is an interactive and educational workshop that will touch on the diversity, benefits, and obstacles of polyamorous relationships. A Q&A panel will follow the discussion.

      Building Community Awards Ceremony -- MU Ballroom

    The Building Community Awards celebrate and honor individuals who have made a positive impact on the OSU LGBTQQIA community. OSU alum and previous Building Community award recipient Tony Robbins will be the guest speaker.

      Guess the Het - MU Main Lounge

    A panel of 6 queer and/or allied people will be on hand to answer your questions. The audience will guess who is straight, and who isn't! See if you can figure out what the difference is between heterosexual and queer students.

      What it Means to be an Ally - MU Quad
    Friday, May 13, 2005 -- 2:00-3:00pm
    Join us for a facilitated discussion about what it means to be an ally to LGBTQQI individuals. We'll have info about what it means to be an ally, buttons to give to allies, and ideas for being an active ally.

      Sex Toys 101 - MU 208

    This program will provide information about sex toys: safe use, cleaning, and where to find them.

    Join us for the FREE capstone event of Queer Pride Week as Poison Waters emcee's the always fabulous, always glam and always-glittery drag show. Doors open at 7:30pm, but line up well in advance to make sure you get inside.

      Laramie Inside Out - MU Joyce Powell Leadership Room
    Tuesday, May 17, 2005 -- 5:00-7:00pm
    In October 1998, Wyoming college student Matthew Shepard was brutally beaten and left to die. His shocking murder pushed Laramie into the media spotlight and sparked a nationwide debate about homophobia, gay-bashing and hate crimes. Filmmaker Beverly Seckinger, a Laramie native, returns home to the site of her own closeted adolescence to investigate the impact of Shepard's murder. She encounters students, teachers, parents, and clergy suddenly moved to speak out and take social action.
