Pride 20034, held May 10th thru May 14th, was a great success. Queer Pride Week is held every spring term so celebrate with us this upcoming year!

      After Stonewall: A History of Action - Asian Pacific Cultural Center
    Wednesday, May 5, 2004 -- 5-7pm
    The Stonewall riots marked a pivotal point in the radicalization of gay consciousness in modern America. This presentation will trace gay activism from the post-World War II era through the 1970s. Special attention will be paid to the relationship of gay rights to other civil rights movements and the continued resonance of this theme today.

      How to be a Good Ally: Safe Zone Training - Educational Hall Room 301
    Saturday, May 8, 2004 -- 10am-1pm
    A training for all who would like to become better allies for the LGBTQ community. The training focuses on basic LGBTQ concepts and theories as well as developing skills to confront homophobia, heterosexism, biphobia, and trans phobia.

    Monday, May 10, 2004 -- 12-2pm
    Free food will be given out while supplies last! The Gentry will perform in the MU Quad, welcoming queers and allies to the 2004 Queer Pride celebration.

      Guess the Hetero - MU Main Lounge
    Monday, May 10, 2004 -- 2-3pm
    There will be a panel of students, most of whom are queer. The audience will ask the panel questions to determine which is the straight person.

      Interracial Relationships: Acquaintances, Friends, and Partners - MU 208
    Monday, May 10, 2004 -- 5:30-7pm
    An informal diversity training where issues regarding cross-cultural interactions will be presented and discussed.

      Rainbow Continuum - Women's Center

    The Rainbow Continuum is a group that meets once a week to specifically serve the queer and allied community here at OSU.

    An opportunity to take a break from classes, meet new people, and play games in the sunshine. There will be volleyball, Frisbee, and swimming!
      Mentoring LGBTA Students - MU 208
    Tuesday, May 11, 2004 -- 11:30-1:00pm
    Faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend a conversation about the importance of mentoring LGBTA students. This informal discussion will explore the stories of mentors and students. Take this opportunity to learn ways in which we might become even more helpful as mentors.
      Understanding the Issue: Marriage Equality - MU 208
    Tuesday, May 11, 2004 -- 6:00-8:00pm
    Join Micheil MacCutcheon and Bonnie Tinker from Love Makes a Family to talk about marriage equality. They will discuss the difference of marriage equality between civil unions and domestic partnerships, and how different religious groups view marriage equality. Additionally, MacCutcheon and Tinker will help participants to engage around this issue and discover the best methods for speaking out about the importance of marraige equality.

    Join a panel of OSU students as they share stories and answer questions related to their experience being queer identified. Come see what it's like to be queer at OSU and ask questions about the lives and experiences of people who are your classmates, neighbors, coworkers, family, and friends.

      Film Showing: The Smith Family - MU Main Lounge

    The Smiths of Salt Lake City may have America's most common surname, but their story is anything but ordinary. With two boys, a dog, a nice house and a strong commitment to the Mormon Church, Steve and Kim Smith believe they have achieved the American dream. Then, on the couple's ninth anniversary, Steve reveals that he has been having sexual encounters with men. Three years later, Kim discovers that she is HIV positive. Soon after, Steve develops AIDS and Kim makes and unlikely choice.
    The Smith Family is a searing account of one family's struggle to preserve family and faith, while redefining forgiveness in the face of daunting tragedy.

    Trans is a word that describes so many types of people and is understood by so few. Come and learn more about Trans related issues in this educational forum featuring a speaker and a discussion.

    The Queer Resource Center, as part of the Queer Pride Celebration Steering Committee, is proud to present the second annual OSU Building Community Awards. The awards ceremony will honor lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and allied individuals for their commitment to the queer community at OSU. Refreshments will be provided.

    Drag performers strut their stuff. This year's show includes Maria and Poison Waters from Portland, as well as your reigning King and Queen of OSU: Master Bastion and Lucilla DeMore.
