Pre-Pharmacy Students! The
Pre-Pharmacy Society is an organization designed to help
students that are planning to enter the field of pharmacy.
We hold meetings with guest speakers, tours and functions all
with the goal to stimulate interest in matters pertaining to
pharmacy. Come to a meeting and see what we are all about.

UPCOMING EVENTS
OFFICER APPLICATIONS DUE
FRIDAY MAY 8TH
It is time for officer elections and applications are due by
May 8th to Kate Normandin's office. These applications
will be used to gather more information about the applicants.
Voting will take place at the last meeting of the term on May
20th at 5:30pm. If you have any questions, contact one of
the officers.
CORVALLIS CARING PLACE
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Monday, May 11th a group of pre-pharmacy students will be
going over to the Corvallis Caring Place to spend some time with
residents and celebrate Mother's Day. This is a great
volunteer opportunity!
RELAY FOR LIFE
Relay For Life at Oregon State University is scheduled for
May 15th of this year. We have a team this year and are
encouraging members to sign up through the American Cancer
Society website. Email Jing Chen for questions.

FIRST PRE-PHARMACY SOCIETY
MEETING
Our first Pre-Pharmacy
Society meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 7th at 7:00pm
in room 305 of the Pharmacy Building (East of the Valley
Library on campus). Snacks and beverages will be provided and ALL
are welcome! Check your email soon for more information.
SECOND PRE-PHARMACY SOCIETY
MEETING
Our second meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 11th at
5:30pm. The meeting will be in the pharmacy practice lab
on the second floor of the pharmacy building. Ann Zweber,
senior instructor in the department of pharmacy practice here at
the OSU, will be our guest speaker. And as always, snacks will
be provided! See you there!
OSU FALL TERM BLOOD DRIVE
The blood drive is a great volunteer opportunity for
pre-pharmacy students. It is November 10th-13th from
11am-6pm each day. Volunteers are needed from about 10am
to 5 or 6pm. There are many jobs and any help is a big help.

with the days and time you can help. If you forget to sign up
for a specific time, drop-in volunteers are usually welcome.
FINAL MEETING OF FALL TERM
Thursday December 4th at 5:30pm the Pre-Pharmacy Society
will be having its last meeting of the term. For the
meeting Dr. Chrissa Kioussi
will be giving us a tour of her research lab in the pharmacy
building and speaking about her research here at OSU. Take
a break from your studying to come learn interesting information
on a different side of pharmacy.
FIRST MEETING OF WINTER TERM
Our first meeting of the Winter term will be Wednesday,
January 14th at 6pm in Pharmacy 305. We will be having a
few P1 and P2 students come in for a Question and Answer
session. Come to the meeting ready with questions! At the
end of the meeting we are also selling College of Pharmacy
T-Shirts that were donated to the Pre-Pharmacy Society. T-Shirts
will be $10.00 each.
WORKSHOP FOR GENERAL SCIENCE
DEGREES
A workshop about different careers associated with general
science degrees is coming up in late January. Stay posted
and check your email for specifics soon!
COMPOUNDING PHARMACY TOUR
We are currently working with staff at the Corvallis
Compounding Pharmacy to set up days and times for pre-pharmacy
students to tour the pharmacy. This is a really
interesting experience and a great way to see a different side
of pharmacy. More information soon to come!
APOTHECARY BALL VOLUNTEER
OPPORTUNITY
The Apothecary Ball is a fundraiser for pharmacy school
students aimed at sponsoring student involvement in local and
national professional groups and events. Every year
pre-pharmacy society members volunteer to help with different
tasks at the ball. It is on March 7th at the Crystal
Ballroom on Burnside in Portland. Specific details will be
explained in later meetings and through email.
SECOND MEETING OF
WINTER TERM
The next meeting will be Wednesday, February 18th at 6pm in
Pharmacy 305. We will be playing Team Pharmacy Jeopardy!!
Prizes and refreshments will be provided so come and unwind
before the end of the term!!
VOLUNTEERING
ACTIVITY AT CORVALLIS CARING PLACE
We have an activity set up with the retirement home here in
town, the "Corvallis Caring Place" on 750 NW 23rd St. (about 6
blocks from campus). This will be Monday, Feb. 16, at 5:00 or
5:30pm. The activity will include bringing the residents
Valentine's cookies and cards and socializing with them. Email
Eddie if you are interested in attending!! It is a great
opportunity to get a little bit of health care experience!
If you are
interesting in making cookies on Sunday the 15th, contact Jen or
Kala by email.
FIRST MEETING OF SPRING TERM
The First meeting of Spring Term will be held in Pharmacy
305 on Wednesday, April 8th at 5:30PM. We will be having
in informational session on pharmacy technician certification
and licensing. We will also be discussing upcoming events
such as The Good Sam Pharmacy Tour and Relay For Life.
Snacks and refreshments will be supplied as always and College
of Pharmacy T-Shirts will be on sale as well! See you there!
GOOD SAM HOSPITAL PHARMACY
TOUR
We are working with staff at the Good Samaritan Hospital in
Corvallis to set up a tour of their pharmacy. We have a
tentative date of the 24th of April but we will have more
information soon!
