History and Facts

Pi Beta Phi was the first national women's fraternity founded on April 28, 1867. We were founded at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois by our twelve founders as seen to the right. Not only was Pi Phi the first national women's fraternity, we were also first to form an Alumni Advisory Committee, the first to have a national philanthropy, and also one of the first seven founders of the Panhellenic Conference.
