Are there some items you do not take? Yes, there is a list of items we never take (power mowers, paint, etc.). These are listed in the Shop. We, also, have a list of items that are currently not taken due to lack of space – it is updated daily. Can I pay with a check, debit, or credit card? No, sales are CASH only. Can I buy this item for a lower price? No. The consignor – not the Shop, sets prices. Do you have senior discounts? No. Can I return a purchased item? No, sales are final. What if item I buy does not work? Items are sold “as is” – but electric items can be plugged in to an outlet at the Shop to see if they work before you purchase them. When does consignee receive payment? Checks are written once a month for items sold that month. Checks are issued the Tuesday following markdowns. Do I have to pick up my check in person? Yes, but checks are held for 6 months. Bring ID and a consignment sheet with you. We are leaving Corvallis - can my check be mailed? Yes, but we need a self-addressed stamped envelop with your consignment number. Please have photo ID to show when you leave your envelope.
Do I receive payment for missing items? Sorry, we do our best, but there is shoplifting. It is a risk you take. Can I have an item placed in a locked case? We have limited space in a closed case by the cashier station and the case is no guarantee for security. Placement in the closed case depends on space being available. Do not consign an item if you do not want to take this risk. When can I withdraw my items? There is an expiration date on the consignment sheet and you must withdraw items before this date. You have to locate your items and bring them to the cashier who will remove tags. You must have your copy of the consignment sheet to show her. To withdraw them, you sign and date the back of removed tags. Can I re-consign an item? Yes, but item must be properly withdrawn first. Re-consignment depends on space being available. What happens if I do not withdraw items? After the expiration date, items left belong to the Shop and are reduced in price. If sold, the money goes directly into OSU Scholarships. What does the Thrift Shop do with its money? We provide grants to Benton County agencies and organizations that provide needed services to both children and adult residents of our community. There is a list of these agencies posted at the Shop. We also give OSU scholarships to Benton County high school students and older than average women. What is your phone number? We do not have a listed phone number. |
