WHAT SETS US APART?
Alcohol Awareness
We received the Kappa Alpha Theta Alcohol Awareness Award 2002 for
being the most aware Fraternity on campus. The various programs we hold
have kept us safe and out of trouble.
Scholarship Program
This year our Chapter gave approximately $40,000 in scholarships.
The average member (including Associate Members) received $900 - $3,000.
We also offer a $500 scholarship to incoming freshmen. We have the
largest scholarship fund on campus.
Associate Member Program
LCA does not have pledges. When a man associates himself with us he
is granted all of the privileges of a regular member except for those
regarding our ritual. Otherwise, we share cleaning duties (which are done
by every live-in every other week), everyone has an equal vote in chapter,
everyone is given the chance to hold an office, and we are all expected
to do our part in building the Fraternity.
Zeta Points
Certain privileges are based on a system that factors in each member's
house participation rather than just their seniority. For instance, the
more active you are in the house and up-campus, the better chance you
have to become a room-head or to get a good parking spot.
No Hazing
Lambda Chi Alpha National Fraternity was the first to implement a
NO HAZING POLICY. The Associate Member program was a step towards creating
equality between members and those seeking membership. Hazing is strictly
forbidden. We pride ourselves on the way we treat everyone with equal
respect and dignity.
Athletics
WE OWN IM SPORTS! We are repeating IM Sports Champions. Repeat IM
softball all-Fraternity champs and newly-crowned all-University champs.
We compete in all sports (even waterpolo).

WHY RUSH LAMBDA
CHI?
Lambda Chi Alpha is truly a unique
fraternity. The main reason is that we have officially abolished hazing.
As a rushee you are going to hear from many different fraternities, and
they will all say that they do not haze. The word hazing can be interpreted
many different ways-- what is hazing to one fraternity is an everyday
occurrence to others. As a rushee it is important for you to understand
the difference. Most fraternities have special meeting rooms where only
members are admitted, and most make their "pledges" clean the
house early in the morning and perform other duties. At most fraternities,
pledges have no say in how critical house issues are resolved. Some fraternities
even make their pledges do all the kitchen work with no reimbursement.

At Lambda Chi Alpha we don't
even use the word "pledge", we use the term "associate
member", meaning a non-initiated member. All members do the same
cleaning and upkeep as the new guys. There is no secret meeting room,
and associate members have the same full voting rights as members. The
associate members can even run for an elected office (such as secretary,
rush chairman, etc.)
As a rushee it is important
for you to make the right decision because it will effect you for the
rest of your life. A list of important questions to ask every fraternity
is:
(1) "Is your house full
to capacity?" You will hear from many houses about the joys of living
in a "small house", but in reality no fraternity wants to be
undermanned.
(2) "How are your grades in comparison to other fraternities?"
Ask for a specific ranking. If the fraternity dodges the question
by showing off their refurbished party room, take warning.
(3) "Do you have an open kitchen?" Many fraternities lock their
kitchens during non-meal hours.
(4) "How does the house cleaning schedule work?" Nothing is
worse than being a pledge and having to get up and clean a bathroom at
7:00 a.m.
