Hello seniors,
I plan to carry my first term's tuition by means of a DD. How long would it take to encash the DD at the OSU Federal ? What would the collection charges be like ?
I'm still undecided on DD vs TC. What would you guys recommend ? Does encashing the TC have any associated charge ?
Thanks and regards,
Jervis

Hi Jervis,
I am not sure about the time it takes to encash the DD (Demand Draft) / TC (Traveller's Cheque), but you will have enough time after the scholl starts to pay the tuition fees. The date by which you will need to pay the term fee will be the first of the month after the term starts. If I remember correctly, for Fall term this date is Nov-01 and not Oct-01.
And even if you don't pay by the due date, the interest will be less (1% per month), which comes to about $60.
Thomas Cook or such Travel Exchange people in India will be able to tell you best about any processing fees for TC/DD.
To open a bank account at OSUFederal you will not require any SSN, your OSU admission documents and passport will be sufficient. You will have to update the SSN details once you get it later on. Opening a bank account will not take much time.
