FE Review Course Information Page
The FE Review Course provides students with a review of the basic engineering principles that are covered on the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam. The course is offered for eight weeks of winter term on Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 7 to 9pm. The same material is covered on both nights, so you only need to attend once a week, whichever night works best for you.
Sign up for the FE Review Course:
You may only register at the sign up for the class during the registration week. Registration week will be during Dead Week, Fall 2007. The Registration Table will be located outside Covell 117 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. In order to register you will need to provide your name, major, phone number, and preferred email address. The registration fee of $75 will be due at the time of registration. We will be accepting cash or check as forms of payment (you will be given a receipt). A late fee of $15 will be applied to those who do not pay during registration week.
We realize that some students may be on internships and cannot signup during dead week, so we are allowing mail in registration. Please send a letter (postmarked by November 30th, 2007) with your name, major, and e-mail address on it, along with a check for $75 to the following address:

Those who choose to sign up for the course during the first week of the class will be charged $90 (instead of $75 if done during Registration week) in order to cover our late processing fees.
Note: Refunds (for the FE Review Session) will only be given until the Wednesday of the second week (January 16).
How the test works:
The FE Exam is separate from the FE Review Course. In order to register for the exam, you need to do so through the Oregon State Board of Examiners website. The FE exam is offered two times per year, and the next test is on April 12, 2008. The deadline to apply for the April exam (not the sessions) is December 1st, 2007.
The test is split into two portions: a morning and an afternoon. The morning portion covers the general engineering principles, which are reviewed in the FE Review Course. The afternoon portion of the test is discipline specific. You can choose to take the following tests: Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Industrial, General.
You can look at the application information at the Fundamentals of Engineering page on the Oregon State Board of Examiner’s website http://www.osbeels.org/fset_fefls_edu.htm. The cost for the application for the FE exam is $35, and applications must be postmarked by the deadline. If applying for the Spring examination, the postmark deadline is December 1st. If applying for the Fall examination, the postmark deadline is TBA. Please refer to the exam schedule listed on our website or contact the Board office for further information.
Education required to take the exam:
OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED OF EXAM APPLICANTS. Official transcripts must be requested by the applicant and sent directly by the college registrar’s office to the Oregon Board address. Photocopies of transcripts will not be accepted.
If your degree is not from an ABET accredited engineering program, the Board will require official documentation of a course-by-course evaluation showing equivalence of an ABET engineering degree through the following companies: Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE) or Engineering Credentials Evaluation International (ECEI). For information regarding evaluations, please visit www.ece.org or www.ecei.org. ABET accredited programs can be found at www.abet.org.
About the Review Books:
Review books are available to help you study for both portions of the test. The review books provide students with more exam and review information, as well as practice tests. The 3 books that are recommended are the FE Review Manual, which reviews the morning portion of the exam, a discipline specific review book for the afternoon portion of the test, and the Reference Handbook.
The reference handbook is provided for you when you enter the test. It contains equations and other material needed for the test. It is recommended that you order a copy before the test so that you can become familiar with the contents and know where the information is you will need before you get into the test. When you actually enter the exam room, you will be given a new, pristine copy of the Handbook to use. You may not use your previously acquired copy.
