As Alpha Phi’s, we always remember why we’re ultimately here – to learn and excel as college students.  Our members work hard to perfect the necessary balance between an active campus presence, social life and academics.  We pride ourselves on the accomplishments we continue to achieve as Oregon State students.

Scholarship is an essential thrust of Alpha Phi, and while we take it very seriously, we make every attempt to implement it in a fun, non-threatening way.  Hard work is rewarded each week with our “Smart Cookie” Award – special recognition for a sister who got an ‘A’ the previous week on a test, paper, quiz or project.  Each member is required to devote specific hours each week to study, with the number of hours determined by that member’s previous GPA.  Girls with high GPAs in turn volunteer to help others as study proctors. You can always find a study buddy at Alpha Phi!

Beta Upsilon chapter of Alpha Phi holds a Scholarship dinner each quarter, recognizing members for outstanding academic performance.  Additionally, our chapter house includes a library – a quiet study area where girls can escape the normal house environment to hit the books.  An extensive set of class notes is maintained as a resource for everyone, and housed in our library.

Oregon State University Phis’ scholastic achievement continues to be recognized by the University through invitations to join campus Honor Societies, including the Order of Omega, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the OSU Honors College and the Cardinal Honor Society.  Our chapter’s GPA is consistently above that of the greek womens’ collective GPA, as well as the overall GPA for all Oregon State University women in general.  In 2006, the Beta Upsilon Chapter was named the Alpha Phi Northwest Regional Top Scholarship Program.
