GREEK LIFE AND RECRUITMENT
There’s only one thing to be, and that’s an Alpha Phi.
Why should I join a sorority like Alpha Phi?
Friendship and Sisterhood. Fun-filled social events. Scholarship. Leadership and Community Service opportunities. In Alpha Phi, you’ll find all of these things, creating life-long memories, friendships and family.
OK, I want to join. Now what?
Your first step toward becoming an Alpha Phi at Oregon State Univerity is to sign up for recruitment. The Panhellenic Council oversees the recruitment process for all OSU sororities. Registration information is available at http://oregonstatenpc.com.
Recruitment is the term used to describe the process of becoming a member of a sorority. It is a mutual selection process where each young lady has the opportunity to meet and become acquainted with chapter members, ask a variety of questions, and tour the house. Any female student admitted to OSU is eligible to participate in sorority recruitment.
Fall Formal Recruitment
Fall Formal Recruitment is the primary process used by OSU sororities to obtain new members each year. As a prospective member you will have an opportunity to get acquainted with members of different chapters on campus and ask questions about each sorority and what it has to offer you. Just as sororities are looking for the right women to join their chapters, you should be looking for a chapter that fits you. With ten chapters at OSU, you will be able to find a group of women with whom you identify.
Formal Recruitment is a week-long process, typically held during the second week of fall classes. What to expect?
Informal Recruitment
During winter and spring quarters, most OSU chapters continue to recruit new members through continuous open bidding or “Informal Recruitment.” This process is much less hectic, allowing women to spend more time getting to know one another. Chapters participating in this process, including Alpha Phi, will contact you and extend an invitation to join them for an informal activity, such as bowling, a pizza party, a romantic comedy and popcorn, ice cream . . .
Beta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi is always looking for bright, talented women to join our membership who want to have fun, get involved in their school and community and create friendships for a lifetime. If this sounds like you, contact our VP Recruitment, Sarah Ross at rosssa@onid.orst.edu.
