-Alpha Phi International Fraternity
From the moment a young lady accepts an invitation to join Beta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi, that experience begins. Our New Member Program lasts 6 to 8 weeks, and is premised on the ideals espoused in the Alpha Phi Creed.
New member education starts when a woman is pinned as a pledge, and continues throughout the weeks leading up to initiation. At the start of the program, pledges receive a notebook full of Alpha Phi facts and information. Fun-filled weekly meetings with other girls in their pledge class focus on learning about the fraternity, Beta Upsilon Chapter and what it means to be an Alpha Phi. Not only about education, this time spent together as a pledge class helps foster growth of the ties that unite us as sisters.
Each new member is also paired with a "Phi Pal" - an initiated member who supports and guides her during the pledge process. As initiation draws near, the new member's "Big Sis" is revealed to her. A Big Sis represents a new member's first truly personal relationship within Alpha Phi, providing her with a special friend, confidant, academic resource and personal cheerleader - a role model in Alpha Phi.
