FYE Tip: Form a study group in one of your classes. |
This is the home of the OSU First-Year Program, or FYE. Here you will find useful information for everyone involved in the FYE Program, and for those who aren't. FYE is about students and for students; the program is designed for them, since they are the key to the university structure and it's future!
The First Year Experience program at Oregon State University is a collaboration of services, programs, and people dedicated to helping new students at OSU become successful and well-oriented members of the campus community. This includes OSU CONNECT, U-Engage, FOOTsteps, Transitional Learning Communities and the Academic Success Center located in Waldo Hall.
At Oregon State University, we hope that you have a great collegiate experience. One area of concern over the past year has been the emergence of on-line communities like MySpace and Facebook. We have complied a list of tips for interacting on-line. Please click here for a list of these tips.
U-Engage: ALS 199
Students meet once a week with the faculty member teaching the course, and a second time in a
smaller recitation group of 20 other first-year students. The small size and dedicated teaching
staff offer opportunities to make connections with other students and faculty.
In this two credit course, students work on such issues as academic success, positive relationship
with faculty and students, career and academic direction, gathering knowledge about OSU
resources, and shared values of the OSU community.
