FYE Tip: Think of your courses as a full-time job. |
This is the home of the OSU First-Year Program, or FYE. Here you will find useful information for everyone involved in the FYE Program, and for those who aren't. FYE is about students and for students; the program is designed for them, since they are the key to the university structure and it's future!
The First Year Experience program at Oregon State University is a collaboration of services, programs, and people dedicated to helping new students at OSU become successful and well-oriented members of the campus community. This includes OSU CONNECT, Odyssey, FOOTsteps, Transitional Learning Communities and the Academic Success Center located in Waldo Hall.
At Oregon State University, we hope that you have a great collegiate experience. One area of concern over the past year has been the emergence of On-Line Communities like MySpace and Facebook. We have complied a list of tips for interacting on-line. Please click here for a list of these tips.
OSU Odyssey: ALS 111 - ALS 112
You'll meet regularly with about 20 other first-year students as you work
with a faculty member and/or student leader on such issues as academic success,
positive relationships with faculty and students, career and academic direction,
and shared values of the OSU community. It's a great opportunity to get
personal attention and advice from a faculty member and an experienced student.
FOOTsteps stands for Fall Odyssey Outdoor Trips is, co-sponsored by Dixon Recreation Center and the office of New Student Programs & Family Outreach. You and the other students in your Odyssey class will embark together on either a backpacking, canoeing, rock climbing, or rafting trip in the beautiful Oregon outdoors. You will be accompanied by the faculty and peer leaders for your class as well as experienced trip leaders.
