UV Index:3 Moderate; Wind:From SW at 5 mph; humidity:84%; Pressure:29.94 in.; Dew Point:51°F; Visibility: 5.0 miles Site visit: 20090806 1200; Power supply OK. All instruments were powered on. Computer reporting error. Picarro appears to have been restarted at least once. Appears to be reporting data OK. Gill Sonic last reported logging 20090805 0127. Restarted with new file name ~20090806 1343. Gill responding stubbornly to reasonable commands. Dried off sonic tips. Data stream appears OK on leaving site. Good rain event. Intake ports to Picarro appear dry. Should revisit in several days for best data collection. AMK
- Logger 406 Posted: June 29, 2009
-
The lower logger on the WS 1 base tower is not communicating with the server. This is due to temporary relocation of the radio antenna. Communication should be restore shortly.
- Tower and Shed Posted: June 26, 2009
-
The shed adjacent to the WS 1 base tower is being decommissioned. For several days, the gully will be unobstructed. The tower logger has been moved and reconnected, however, radio communication may be difficult because of the new temporary radio position. Site to regain full operation subsequent to new shed construction.
- Tower data verification Posted: June 25, 2009

Today's re-wiring appears to have been completed succefully. Before and after data trends similar. Table over-rides are still occuring but do not seem to be impacting resulting data. Program can be cleaned up as some channels no longer have sensors attached.
- Logger Re-wired Posted: June 25, 2009
-
The CR23x data logger at the WS 1 base tower was re-wired this morning. A record of the complete wiring diagram was made and will be archived in the "programs" file. Observations made after the logger was brought back online revealed potential table overrides on the wind sensor channels. We are not sure if these were occurring pre re-wiring. We will continue to observe this logger and adjust where necessary.
- WS 1 Base Tower Posted: June 25, 2009
-
Cross calibration (all sensors will be moved near each other) of all temperature sensors on the tower will occur this month. Data from this procedure will be removed from the main dataset and placed in a separate file.
- Plot 501 Update Posted: May 31, 2009
-
Still waiting for power restoration at plot 501.
- Plots 501 - 508 Posted: May 21, 2009
-
501: Power supply reconnected at plot 501. Loose connections at charge controller were not allowing system to be charged. 508: Batteries swapped. JM disconnected radio to save power. FB reconnected today. Should be operational but needs two new fully charged batteries to be delivered.
- Sensor Down at 504 Posted: May 21, 2009
-
Questionable data reporting from canopy air and relative humidity at plot 504.
- Plots Down Posted: May 20, 2009
-
WS 1 Plot 501 and 508 failing to report. Battery level at each plot questionable.
- FEEL Processing Resumes Posted: May 20, 2009
-
New networking capabilities implemented by the College of Forestry IT team allow FEEL to resume its near real-time processing. Complete sensor suite processed tonight.
- Report on WS 1 Tower Posted: May 02, 2009
-
5/1/2009 - All tower guy wires were examined and tightened if needed. All except one wire on the north up-valley slope is secure. This particular wire sustained winter 09 damage and the current turnbuckle is unable to remove excess stress from the fiber. Hi-res fiber removed from tower. All tower hardware appears to be in good working condition.
- Provisional Data Portal Posted: April 01, 2009
-
Full functionality has been restored to the provisional portal on the direct download page. There were a few unresolved PHP errors that have now been addressed.
- VPD Calculation Correction Posted: April 01, 2009
-
VPD output has been revised.
- FEEL Application Daily Updates Posted: February 14, 2009
-
Because of communication limitations, the FEEL database is no longer being updated nightly. To solve this problem, a computer needs to be running from within the College of Forestry that is capable of executing several simple scripts. No machine at this time has been identified.

501 - Replaced charge controller. This system needs to be rechecked. 502 - Batteries filled. Plot in good shape. S. facing solar bank - Most of these batteries should be replaced. The system is still charging and working well, but it is aging rapidly. There are 12 batteries total. 504 - Extra action packer at plot. This plot is charged by the main S. facing solar bank so no batteries are located at this plot. 505 - Charge controller down. Only sending ~5 volts to battery system. The problem is these battery compartments aren't water tight any more and this is impacting the charge controller. Topped batter water level off. 507 - Battery system functioning well. Topped off batteries. 508 - Batteries filled. Next sunny day, should probably swap these with 2 charged batteries. Two random batteries are still on site and need to be brought back to the grey barn. 510 - Filled half of the batteries. One of the terminals was damaged and is not permitting the nut to tighten. Could probably be forced with a wrench. Need to top off water levels. 512 - Not reachable due to snow. Need to revisit after snow melt. Tower - system fine. AC power to tower online. Support cables need to be tightened. Many leaning alders are threatening the tower. Trail is covered with downed trees. Need to have someone with a chainsaw clear this path. North facing side is much worse than south facing side. AC trench is still exposed. Waiting for snow to clear. Will back fill as soon as poosible.
- Telemetry Posted: January 29, 2009

There is a breakdown in communication between the field plots and the HJA Andrews servers. For this reason, the FEEL database is not currently up to data. Solutions to this problem are currently being developed.
- HJ Andrews Webcam Posted: December 18, 2008
-
Near real-time snapshots of the HJ Andrews Headquarters have been added to the FEEL site. Visit http://oregonstate.edu/feel/hjawebcam to see the current conditions.
- Vapor Pressure Deficit Module Added Posted: December 04, 2008
-
We have added a VPD module to the direct data download page. This module calls data from air temperature, relative humidity and the plot description table. The query is output to the screen. VPD equation taken from Jones, 1992.
- Database Rebuilt Posted: November 26, 2008
