Effective July 1, 2005, OSU will no longer offer the 6% salary increase that has been associated with tenure relinquishment agreements in the past.
While the program has had merit with regard to individual and unit planning, the use of the program is not justified in the current fiscally constrained environment, where other university priorities, including regular salary increases for faculty, compete for the same pool of limited resources. Additionally, the discontinuation of the program does not preclude a faculty member receiving a 6% (or higher) salary increase, were performance and resources to justify it.
Faculty members may still continue to work after relinquishing tenure for up to 1039 hours per academic year, for up to three years. These agreements are not automatic. They depend on the academic needs and financial situation of the unit, as well as continued satisfactory performance of the faculty member.
