The English Language Institute (ELI) offers language instruction to assist international students and faculty in strengthening their command of the English language. Intensive instruction is provided for students preparing for academic programs or other career goals. Special classes are held for international graduate teaching assistants.
ELI also provides support classes for conditionally admitted OSU students. Undergraduates with a 450–549 TOEFL score or graduate students with a 500–549 TOEFL score can study part–time at the ELI while simultaneously taking courses at OSU. Successful completion of the highest level of ELI instruction can also serve as an alternative to the required 550 TOEFL score for admission to OSU.
