How to Get an ID Card
All persons applying for an OSU ID card must come to the ID Center in person and present proper identification (Valid Driver's License, State ID Card, Military ID, Passport, or Residence Alien Card) for card issuance unless otherwise specified. You will receive your OSU ID card immediately after your photo is taken. Please be aware that a card fee may apply. Please choose the appropriate status category from the choices below for more information.
Incoming Freshmen and Transfer students who attend START (summer advising and registration) will have their photos taken and receive their ID cards during their START session. Incoming students may also obtain their ID card one week before and throughout their first term of registration. For Fall term, registered students may obtain their ID card anytime throughout the summer as well.
Graduate and Professional Students
Graduate students may obtain their ID card one week before and throughout their first term of registration. For Fall term, registered graduate students may obtain their ID card anytime throughout the summer as well.
Students who re-enroll after an absence may obtain a new ID card, or in most cases, they may continue using their old ID card. Their ID card is automatically re-activated when they are registered for the current term.
Distance Education Students
Students who are studying off campus may obtain their ID card as long as they are registered with OSU. They may request a non-photo ID card to be mailed to them by calling or emailing the ID Center anytime after they have registered for classes.
Dual Admission/Enrollment Students
Students who have dual admission status with OSU and one of several Oregon Community Colleges may obtain their OSU ID card even if they are only registered for classes at the Community College. They have access to library and computer lab resources at OSU, but not to student fee funded facilities and services such as Recreational Sport.
Faculty/Staff & Temporary Employees
Regular Faculty, Classified Staff, and Temporary Employees may obtain their OSU ID Card at the ID Center. You will need to bring state or government issued (driver's license, passport) identification and a copy of your welcome letter. Your welcome letter will be sent to you and your payroll coordinator by email. The letter will contain your OSU ID number and your classification. If you are non-temporary faculty or staff, and you did not receive a welcome letter, you may still come to the ID Center, but we cannot issue an ID card until Human Resources has processed your paperwork. A copy of the welcome letter is required for temporary employees to have an ID card issued.
Courtesy Faculty are eligible for a Courtesy Faculty ID card. You will need to bring with you proper identification and a copy of your welcome letter. Your welcome letter will be sent to you and your payroll coordinator by email. The letter will contain your OSU ID number and your classification. We cannot issue an ID card until Human Resources has processed your paperwork.
Affiliate Faculty may obtain their ID Card at the ID card office by bringing the letter of Notice of Affiliate Faculty Status received from their department to the ID Center along with proper photo identification.
