Linus Pauling Legacy Award Lecture

Ion Channel Chemistry: the Electrical System of Life
Dr. Roderick MacKinnon, winner of the 2003 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, will speak in Portland on "Ion Channel Chemistry: The Electrical System of Life." His lecture will present recent developments on the molecular principles of selectivity and gating in potassium channels. Dr. Roderick MacKinnon is visiting Oregon to accept the Linus Pauling Legacy Award, presented by the Oregon State University Libraries. http://calendar.oregonstate.edu/event/17730/

Pride Week Information Tent and Prize Depot

The booth in the MU Quad is the headquarters of the Pride festivities this year. Christine Sleeter - Intellectually Challenging Teaching in Multicultural, Bilingual Classrooms

Christine Sleeter, considered an icon in multicultural education, lectures both nationally and internationally. Her most recent books include "Facing Accountability in Education: Democracy and Equity at Risk" and Doing Multicultural Education for Achievement and Equity" with Carl Grant. http://calendar.oregonstate.edu/event/18655/

Chun Chiu Lecture

Shiyung Liu, Academica Sinica, Taiwan
This lecture will explore the construction of medical knowledge under Japanese colonial rule in Taiwan (1895­1945). The medical establishment in colonial Taiwan and the knowledge it disseminated became a hybrid that combined German Staatsmedizin with the Japanese modification of modern medicine that took place in the early 20th century. http://calendar.oregonstate.edu/event/13377/

Engineering Expo

Student creations from all engineering majors will be showcased at the OSU Engineering Expo. This year's Senior Design Project Competition will feature over 100 projects built by chemical, civil, construction, electrical and computer, industrial and manufacturing, mechanical, nuclear engineering and computer science students. http://calendar.oregonstate.edu/event/18761/

World Bazaar

The International Sudents of Oregon State University will be hosting their annual spring festival on May 11th.
