Patrick Murphy - Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Murphy has spent his entire career launching and growing leading edge technology companies. When not building his own startups or serving on executive teams for others, he has been providing strategic sales and marketing consulting to some of the world's largest technology firms, including Microsoft, AT&T and Intel. Since 2005 he has served as a Principal at Lawrence Associates LLC, specializing in developing strategic marketing and sales models. Mr. Murphy served six years as a Board Member and Managing Partner of NetMinds Consulting, Inc., a business consulting and virtual incubator group he co-founded in 1999. Prior to NetMinds, Mr. Murphy spent 16 years with technology companies in the web services, healthcare, hospitality, business accounting, education and telecom sectors.
- Began his entrepreneurial career in 1984 at Medical Computers Int'l, helping create and market one of the first PC-based healthcare billing systems (1984-1986)
- Co-owner of Benchmark Systems, an early leader in the development and marketing of healthcare billing and electronic records, and other vertical business applications (1986-1995)
- Director of North American Affiliates for AEI Music, a $100M private company (1995-1997)
- Vice President of Sales & Business Development for N2H2, an early leader in Internet content management and Web search. (1997-2000). Key member of N2H2's management team, growing that firm from 25 to 250. Led the Sales team in building annualized revenues from $2 to $12 M in 24 months, prior to a $65M IPO in July of 1999
- Co-founded and served as a Principal of NetMinds Consulting (2000-2005), providing Interim Executive services for several early-stage technology firms, including:
- CEO of Net2Trak Inc., an ASP application for telecom providers, and managed that firm's market entry, including its signing of its first $1 million+ accounts with Qwest and Expanets
- Interim CEO/CMO for MindTouch, a provider of Wiki-based, Knowledge Management solutions.
- Vice President of Business Development for Mosaix Communications—a pioneer in managed WAN Services for small businesses. Raised $1.6M in seed funding and sold first 20 customers.
Mr. Murphy has extensive experience in creating marketing strategies, and building sales teams and reseller channels for startups. He has established strategic partnerships with companies such as British Telecom, Compaq, AT&T, Novell, Inktomi, and Qwest. He has served in Advisory Board positions for various technology firms, as well as several educational and non-profit Boards.
Mr. Murphy received his B.S in Agricultural Economics and an M.B.A. in Finance from Washington State University. He currently serves on the National Board of Advisors and Entrepreneurial Studies Program Advisory Board for his alma mater's College of Business.
