Thank you for your interest in eOrganic!
We would like to have you join us in our mission to bring the best science- and practitioner-based organic agriculture information to the web. To find eOrganic's public organic farming content please visit eXtension
eOrganic's primary mission is to develop web content for eXtension. Another important part of eOrganic is professional networking. We hope you can make new contacts, learn about new projects, and form groups to collaborate with while working in eOrganic. Our goal is to build a diverse membership. We hope you can find your niche within eOrganic.
Membership to the eOrganic Community of Practice requires the following to be sent to us via email at joineorganic [at] gmail [dot] com
You must also become a member of eXtension by getting an ExtensionID at https://people.extension.org/account/signup
If you are not in the Land Grant University System a current member of eOrganic will have to vouch for you through the eXtension system. Please register with eXtension and after receiving approval to join eOrganic you will be vouched for.
Once completed, your information will be passed on to the Membership Committee and/or applicable Content Area Leaders. Following approval you will receive a confirmation letter informing you as to which group in eOrganic you will work with. All eOrganic members contribute through groups and you will be placed in an existing group based on your interests. If no group exactly matches your interests you will be initially placed in a group that most closely matches your field. Our current funding dictates that we focus on dairy and diversified vegetable production system and our groups are creating content for these systems. Read over our current list of content areas. If the area of your expertise is not represented in this list, please let us know what areas you are interested in. You also have the option of creating a new group for content development (please review Starting a New Group below.)
By continuing with the application process you are affirming your commitment to the eOrganic Community of Practice. Please review the following duties of our members.
Failure to meet your responsibilities as a member can result in your removal from our ranks. Being a member of eOrganic requires a commitment from you.
If your area of expertise is not currently represented within eOrganic, you can form a new group. Due to our current workload, we will begin forming new groups in early 2009. Creating a new group requires a content area leader. The content area leader has considerable expertise in the content area, must be approved by the eOrganic Leadership Team, acts as the group manager, liason to the leadership team, works with the assigned eOrganic coordinator in assisting group members, approves new membership requests, and oversees content develop for publishing with eXtension. These duties can be shared with co-content leaders. Please indicate in your response if you are interested in forming a new group with eOrganic.
Thank you for your interest in eOrganic. We look forward to working with you soon.
