General

  • EH&S has been established to provide consultation to OSU administration, faculty, staff and students in the areas of environmental protection, employee health, and employee/facility safety
  • EH&S is located at the Oak Creek building, corner of 30th and Western
  • It is OSU policy that all employees and students conduct their work and activities in a safe manner
  • EH&S is responsible for developing, coordinating and promoting the OSU safety program
  • It is NOT the responsibility of EH&S to provide a safe and healthful work environment; this responsibility has been assigned to faculty and staff administrators for the areas under their control

Responsibilities

  • Acceptance of safety responsibility is the cornerstone of the OSU safety program
  • EH&S is responsible for monitoring and ensuring, as far as reasonably possible, the University's compliance with local, state, and federal safety and health regulations
  • EH&S provides the following safety services
    • hazardous waste disposal
    • industrial hygiene surveys for toxic vapor, gas, dust, or noise
    • fire and safety inspections
    • fire extinguisher inspection and maintenance
    • coordinating fire and building evacuation drills
    • laboratory fume hood inspections and tests
    • chemical carcinogen registration and use approval
    • asbestos identification and monitoring
    • hazard communication and MSDS information
    • prescription safety glasses
    • personal protective equipment selection
    • respirator issuance and fit testing
    • accident investigation
    • accident experience record keeping
    • safety complaint investigation and resolution
    • hazardous chemical emergency response and spill clean up
    • safety training
