So you want to become a teacher....

The College of Education at Oregon State University offers an array of exciting possibilities for people who want to pursue a rewarding and challenging career. However, you first need to determine what subject and age group you want to teach.

We offer teacher preparation programs to teach pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade in the public schools as well as programs for working with adult learners, whether in the workforce or at the community college level. Our programs include graduate degrees (Master of Arts in Teaching, Masters in Education) and the Education Double Degree for undergraduates.

If you want to teach younger students, check out the Early Childhood/Elementary Education Program page for more information. This program offers you the excitement and challenge of learning to work with children while teaching a variety of subjects.

If you want to educate older students (usually middle school through high school) and teach a subject about which you are passionate, go to the secondary education page and click on the content area that you want to teach. OSU offers teacher education programs in Agriculture, Science and Mathematics, Business and Technology, Family and Consumer Science, Foreign Language, Health, Language Arts, Music, and Physical Education.

Perhaps you are interested in working with adult learners. Maybe you want to learn more about workforce training or teaching at the community college level. If so, go to the adult education Web page for more information about this unique program.

The College of Education at OSU wants to help you learn skills and knowledge that will enrich your life and turn your dream of becoming a teacher into reality.
