The qualitative research lab is a partnership between College of Education, Women Studies Program, and Information Services at Oregon State University. This grant project was supported by the Technology Resource Fee at OSU.
Description and Purpose of QRL
The new service provides an enhancement to the research efforts of graduate students and faculty.
Filled with PCs loaded with qualitative research software (NVivo), recording and transcribing equipment,
laptops, and a digital video camera, QRL provides graduate students and faculty with access to the
hardware and software they need to conduct significant, thorough, and professional qualitative research
projects and current qualitative research technology.
Policy and Forms
Graduate students sign Equipment Check-Out Form taking responsibility for the equipment and can use equipment for the quarter unless there
is a recall. If the equipment is recalled by another graduate student, students have two weeks to return the equipment to
GSMPC. Graduate students need to have had their proposal meeting before checking out lab equipment. Graduate students
need to bring their student ID to complete the form at GSMPC. Please have the Faculty Approval Form signed and make a copy
for your department and bring a copy to GSMPC. Each laptop has NVivo qualitative research software
installed and have wireless cards.

Lab equipment is available for checkout from the Graduate Student Media Presentation Center. GSMPC is in Valley Library, Room 1420 and open Mon: 10.00 a.m. - 11.00 a.m., Wed: 4.00 p.m. - 5.00 p.m. GSMPC
