College Student Services Administration Application

Applying to the CSSA Program

Please note: Applying to the CSSA program requires the completion of the written application process and participation in an on-campus interview.

Written Application Process:
There are two distinct applications that must be must be received by no later than January 15 in order to be considered for admission to the CSSA Program:

1. The Application for Admission to Graduate School is for academic admission to Oregon State University;

2. The Application for CSSA Department Admission is for admission to the CSSA program and for those students seeking a graduate assistantship;

For those students seeking an assistantship, these application materials will be shared with departments on campus who anticipate openings. Departments will interview candidates individually and make offers only after students have been admitted to the CSSA program. Please note that students admitted to the program are not guaranteed an assistantship, but it is our goal to help with placing as many students as possible.

Please use the checklist provided below to ensure that all materials have been submitted. Please confirm the receipt of your materials with the CSSA program before the application deadline.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.

On-Campus Interview:

The CSSA Admissions Committee will complete a review of on-time completed files and conduct an initial screening. As a result of this screening process, the Committee will extend invitations to candidates to interview for admission to the program. Invitations to interview will be extended approximately within a week of the application due date.

Candidates invited to interview will have the option to interview via phone or in-person at our Campus Days event (see details below). No preference is given to the format of the interview. All interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty, current students, and alumni.

Our on-campus interview event will be held on February 19-20, 2009 at the OSU campus in Corvallis, Oregon. In addition to admissions interviews, assistantship supervisors who anticipate openings in their departments will interview qualified candidates. Campus Days will also provide an opportunity for prospective students to tour campus and meet with current students. For details regarding the weekend, please contact the CSSA office. Note: Please do not make plane or hotel reservations until an invitation to interview has been extended.
