Organization and Human Resource Education Program

The College of Education at Oregon State University continues its history of preparing workforce education specialists to lead education and training programs in the workplace, the community, and community colleges.

The Organization and Human Resource Education Cohort Master's Degree Program

There are two areas of emphasis in this program, depending on one's current or aspiring work setting. This often establishes the context within which you will focus your studies. Some students enjoy working within both areas of emphasis. The Master's Degree in Organizational and Human Resource Education will prepare you to work in a variety of settings educating adults. You will learn strategies for teaching and training in business and industry, government, community agencies, and community college programs. You will learn to design and implement curriculum and instruction in basic skills (including English as a scond language), work-related and/or content-based instruction for a diverse group of adult learnings in business, community, and community college settings. Included in the program content is adult development and learning theories, organizational development, needs assessment and research, instructional technology and instructional systems design.

Program Design

This program is designed for the working professional, who often finds it difficult to attend weekly classes. Our classes are held one weekend, on Friday afternoons and evenings and Saturdays, on the campus of the Wilsonville Training Center (Clackamas Community College), Wilsonville, Oregon. Interim assignments between monthly weekends are supported by mentoring and coaching of instructional staff and peers via the internet. The weekend sessions are highly interactive, engaging, and focus on application of skills that can be applied immediately to one's workplace setting.
