Cass is a National Certified Counselor, Master Addictions Counselor, and National Certified School Counselor. He received a master's in counseling from the University of Washington and a doctorate in counselor education from the University of Virginia. He has served as the principal investigator for two federal grants totally $1.7 million. His current research interests include addiction counseling and psychopharmacology. In addition, he is the author of numerous books, book chapters, and scholarly journal articles.
Cass serves as program lead for the PhD with a Major in Counseling as well as TCE Department Co-Chair ad interim. He is past president of both the Washington State Association for Counselor Education and Supervision and the Western Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. He is also past chair of the School Counseling Interest Network of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.
Cass is a 3rd generation Oregonian. He and his daughter Nora reside in Corvallis. He enjoys hiking and playing indoor soccer.
