So you want to become a counselor...

Applicants to the Oregon State University Counselor Education program differ in many ways; yet, they all share a professional commitment to work with children, youth, adults, and/or families in a school, community college, or agency setting.

If you have the interest and personal desire, and if you meet the admissions requirements for our program and for the Graduate School, we encourage you to apply. Our guiding credo is DRIVE: Dignity, Respect, Integrity, Value, and Equality in our actions towards all humankind.

Our program has educated counselors since 1916. We are one of two CACREP (Council for Accrediting Counseling and Related Educational Programs) accredited programs in Oregon. Our doctoral program is the only CACREP program in the Northwest. Our faculty is committed to the personal and professional development of our students and to the ongoing development of our program.

Graduates of our program populate schools, community colleges, and agencies throughout Oregon and the Northwest. If you desire more information about our program, we invite you to visit program page to read more about the program and to download files with program information and the application.
