BLACKConnect

BlackConnect is an annual program of events designed to welcome new Black freshmen and transfer students to Oregon State. It is a way to familiarize them with the climate of both the campus and surrounding Corvallis community. Returning students serve as volunteers and guides throughout Connect week so that the new students can get used to familiar faces as they transition to college life.

BLACK Family Welcome Dinner

The Black Family Welcome Dinner is an event planned at the beginning of each school year to welcome new and returning Black, students staff and faculty. It is a way for our Black family on campus to identify each other and become resources to one another as we make our collective journey through this academic setting.

Harvest Dinner

The Harvest Dinner is a way for Black students, staff and faculty to check in with one another before the Thanksgiving break. It is also a means of relaxing after midterms and reconnecting with the Black family.

Black History Month

The Ujima Education Office participates in the Black History Month celebration. This month long series of events are usually co-sponsered with other organizations and departments on campus such as the Black Student Union.

Black Graduation

The Black Graduation ceremony is a way to celebrate our outgoing students and congratulate them on their achievements in Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees. This is a way for friends and family to come together with, food, fun and fellowship as one door closes and another opens.
