Goal:
The
trainfishmngr listserv is designed to enhance discussion and disseminate
information about training for the needs of 21st century fisheries. The primary
goal of this list is to facilitate communication among those who supply
fisheries management related training, and those who demand training - including
managers in need of training and employers of managers. Managers are defined broadly as those who participate significantly in the
fisheries management process.

Visitors to the mailing
list are allowed. This means that the web interface will allow
non-members to "Read and Search" the past discussions on the mailing
list. They will also be able to "Get Info" about the mailing list. A
Visitor cannot contribute to a mailing list, and cannot receive mailing list

Contributions that will be welcomed include:
- Announcements of training activities, events, and opportunities - examples include:
- Specialized training workshops, short courses, or programs
- Conferences or symposia
- Continuing education programs
- New academic programs or other training initiatives or innovations
- Professional exchange, sabattical, secondment, or internship opportunities
- Funding announcements - examples include:
- Fellowships - for teaching or training
- Internships
- Graduate research assistantships
- Requests for proposals for research or projects related to training/education development, collaboration and evaluation, etc.
- Invitations to collaborate and information about collaborative intra- or multi-sectoral or national, international, or regional partnerships - examples include:
Intra or multi-sectoral, or international professional or student exchange opportunities;
Specialized international or inter-sectoral training opportunities
- Notices of publications or resources - examples include:
- Reports on fisheries management training or education workshops
- Papers on fisheries management education and training, or retention and recruitment issues.
- Reports on teaching innovations and teaching materials
- Ideas for or examples of case studies and other unique or innovative integrated learning opportunities (either reality based classroom or field practice)
- Provocations and questions to stimulate debate
- Comments on recruitment and retention practices and innovations
