Eligibility & Applying for SSS
Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally-funded grant program which provides academic, social, and financial support to eligible students. To qualify for SSS services, students must be one of the following:
- A first generation college student (neither of whose parent earned a four-year college degree)
- An individual whose household meets federally established low-income guidelines. (Please visit U.S. Department of Education to find out)
- An individual with a physical or learning disability with documentation emphasizes a possible further academic need.
In addition to the above criteria, federal regulations mandate that students must have a demonstrated academic need to be eligible for SSS services. Academic need can be demonstrated through various means, including test scores, GPAs, interruptions in postsecondary education, limited English skills, and other family or life factors which are deemed to present obstacles to success in college.
