Eligibility & Applying for SSS
TRiO Student Support Services (TRiO-SSS) is a federally funded program that provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and motivates students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. Our mission is to help you succeed at Oregon State University.
Who is Eligible?
- A first generation college student (neither of whose parent earned a four-year college degree)
- An individual whose household meets federally established low-income guidelines. (Please visit U.S. Department of Education to find out)

In addition to the above criteria, federal regulations mandate that students must have a demonstrated academic need to be eligible for SSS services. Academic need can be demonstrated through various means, including test scores, GPAs, interruptions in postsecondary education, limited English skills, and other family or life factors which are deemed to present obstacles to success in college.
