Welcome to the department of Speech Communication at Oregon State University! We offer undergraduate programs leading to BA or BS degrees, with concentrations in communication or theatre art. Also students at OSU can complete a minor either in communication or theatre arts, as well as one in the multimedia minors. At the graduate level we participate in the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies program.
Our communication instructors value discussion and active learning. Our goal, as educators, is to provide both theoretical and practical aspects of human oral communication as a liberal art, as a social science, as a background for further study, and as a pre-professional experience. Students can apply what they are learning in the classroom through activities such as internships and our nationally ranked Speech and Debate team.
