Ross Artwohl dealt with two ongoing mediation situations during 2007-2008. We both responded to several phone and email questions about mediation services. As in past years, referrals came from several sources including self-referred, Faculty Senate, and The Office of Affirmative Action.
This year was the first year operating under the new system of using two faculty mediators. To re-cap the history of this, in February 2006 I met with Bill Boggess to discuss the selection process of this committee and to offer recommendations. I recommended that Faculty Senate appoint people to serve on this committee who have some formal training in mediation. I proposed to have one person serve as Faculty Mediator, and another person serve as alternate. Faculty Senate voted to implement this option on June 14, 2007. I accepted the offer to serve as Faculty Mediator. My colleague, Ross Artwohl, MSW, agreed to serve as alternate.
