Curriculum Council

April 25, 2008
Minutes

The meeting was called to order with 10 voting members present. A quorum of 7 is needed to process action items. Frank Bernieri, Chair of the Budgets and Fiscal Planning Committee of the Faculty Senate, participated in our deliberations.

The following actions were taken:

  1. The Council unanimously approved the Abbreviated Category I Proposal to Reorganize the Administrative Units in the College of Business (Proposal Title: Elimination of Academic Departments). Jack Drexler presented the proposal for the College of Business.
  2. The Council unanimously approved the Category I Proposal for a Religion and Culture Certificate from the Department of Philosophy. Courtney Campbell presented the proposal for the Department of Philosophy.
  3. Stephen Hobbs presented the proposal from the College of Forestry. The Council deferred final action on the Abbreviated Category I Proposal on the Reorganization of the College of Forestry pending the following:
    1. Attachment to the proposal of evidence of liaison with the OSU Cascades campus and any appropriate discussion of that liaison. Specifically liaison is to include notification of Diana Sloane and Marla Hacker of OSU Cascade.
    2. Reconsideration of the Forestry Proposal by the BFPC now that it has a written copy of the Abbreviated Category I Proposal.
  4. The Council agreed to meet next on Friday May 9, 2008 from 2 PM to 3:30 PM. The council will reconsider the College of Forestry proposal at that meeting. BFPC plans to reconsider the proposal on May 8 and Frank Bernieri has graciously agreed to come to the CC meeting on May 9 to share with us any action taken by the BFPC on the previous day and the context for the committee’s actions.
