FACULTY SENATE AGENDA

The agenda for the May Senate meeting will include the reports and other items of business listed below.
 
  1. ACTION ITEM

    Category I Proposal
    Charles Boyer, Curriculum Council co-chair, will present a Category I Proposal for the Initiation of a New Instructional Program Leading to the Certificate in Language in Culture


  2. DISCUSSION ITEMS

    1. Proposed Admissions Policies
      Bob Bontrager will discuss the proposed admissions policies changes, implementation schedule and cost estimates. Linked resource materials for this discussion are: Insight Resume (Written Experiential Assessment), Admissions Insight Resume Scoring Guide, Insight Resume Evaluation, and First Year Admissions Policy.

    2. Athletics
      Bob De Carolis, Athletics Director, will provide an Athletics Update, including Reser Expansion Plans.


  3. SPECIAL REPORT

    Interinstitutional Faculty Senate
    Dan Edge, IFS Senator, will report briefly on the April IFS meeting.


  4. COMMITTEE REPORT

    Advancement of Teaching
    Ray William, Advancement of Teaching Committee Chair, will discuss the Student Evaluation of Teaching Guidelines and report form that will provide the evaluation results. Ray William will be happy to receive comments, on behalf of the Advancement of Teaching Committee, via e-mail at williamr@science.oregonstate.edu.


  5. INFORMATION ITEMS

    1. PERS Forum
      The Faculty Economic Welfare and Retirement Committee is sponsoring a PERS Forum on May 14 from 4:30-6:30 PM in the MU Ballroom. Denise Yunker, OUS Human Resources Manager, will present updated PERS information following the May 13 PERS Board Meeting. All state employees who are either interested in the reform of the PERS system or who are considering retirement are highly encouraged to attend this forum. There will be time for a question and answer session. So we can be assured of adequate seating, please RSVP to faculty.senate@orst.edu by 5:00 PM on May 12.

    2. AAUP/AOF/IFS Joint Meeting Postponed
      The annual AAUP/AOF/IFS Joint Meeting previously scheduled for May 3 has been postponed. Details will be announced when determined.


  6. REPORT FROM AND DIALOG WITH THE PROVOST
    Sabah Randhawa, Interim Provost & Executive Vice President, will provide an update on the development of the strategic plan.


  7. REPORT FROM AND DIALOG WITH THE FACULTY SENATE PRESIDENT
    President Bruce Sorte
    - Extension issues and PERS issues


  8. NEW BUSINESS


IN ORDER TO PROPERLY RECORD MINUTES OF THE SENATE MEETING,
ALL SENATORS ARE REMINDED TO IDENTIFY THEMSELVES
AND THEIR SENATE AFFILIATION WHEN RISING TO SPEAK.
