Helicopter Landing Approval/Plan

In order to ensure the safety of the members of our community and to communicate timely information to the campus and community, the following procedure has been developed for immediate implementation.
The sponsoring department of helicopter landings is responsible for submitting the completed plan to the Manager of the Department of Public Safety by email at least four days before the event.
When selecting the location of the landing/take-off site, the sponsoring department should take into consideration the academic class schedule, noise and air current impact, and street and pedestrian traffic in that area. The sponsoring department is responsible for gaining approval of the landing/take-off site from the administrative unit prior to submitting the plan.
If the sponsoring department requires ground security assistance from Oregon State Police/Department of Public Safety, additional lead-time may be required.
The Department of Public Safety will assume the responsibility of notifying members of the University community and the Corvallis community (as appropriate) about the time, location, and purpose of the event.

In addition to the Procedure/Plan, please take into consideration the current flight restriction established by the FAA when planning a helicopter landing event. There have been no changes in the restriction since it was issued last fall after September 11 . (Issued December 19, 2001) !FDC 1/3353 - ... SPECIAL NOTICE ... FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. PURSUANT TO 14 CFR SECTION 99.7, SPECIAL SECURITY INSTRUCTIONS. THIS IS A RESTATEMENT OF A PREVIOUS RESTRICTION. ALL AIRCRAFT OPERATIONS ARE PROHIBITED WITHIN A THREE NAUTICAL MILE RADIUS/ 3000 FEET AGL AND BELOW OVER ANY MAJOR PROFESSIONAL ORCOLLEGIATE SPORTING EVENT OR ANY OTHER MAJOR OPEN AIR ASSEMBLY OF PEOPLE UNLESS AUTHORIZED BY ATC.
