The Department of Public Safety's Specialized Patrol & Event Services Program provides a stable and dependable security service to the Oregon State University campus community. The program is focused on true risk management and the safety and security of community members and campus facilities.
Services Available
Members of the Department of Public Safety Specialized Patrol & Event Services Program pride themselves in being part of the campus community and are able to understand the unique and special needs associated with campus events, the security of campus facilities, and the monitoring of research sites.
All Department of Public Safety personnel are subject to a thorough background investigation that includes a criminal history check. All staff receive training regarding scope of authority, officer safety / self-defense, crowd control, radio procedures, reporting and documentation of incidents / assignments, first aid / CPR and ongoing training updates on department and university policies and procedures.
The members of the Department of Public Safety have been delegated the responsibility of being considered "persons in charge." This responsibility is taken seriously and demonstrated by high performance standards that inspire the trust of the community.
As security professionals, the officers are equipped with two-way police radios to be in constant contact with DPS Dispatch, DPS Public Safety Officers, and the Oregon State Police.
While on duty, Department of Public Safety personnel wear department uniforms and carry department photo ID.
All services provided on a competitive fee basis.
Rate ranges are based on service requirement: $12.45 - $48.00 per hour.
