Continuous Enrollment and Summers Only Option: OSU Graduate School has a Continuous Enrollment Policy. Many students in our MS program are teachers who are not able to attend school during the academic year. Therefore, Science and Mathematics Education has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Graduate School to provide for students to be Summers Only (or primarily summers). The agreement does require that the students file appropriate Planned Leave of Absence for the academic terms they will not be in attendance.
  • To apply for an approved Leave of Absence, use the Intent to Resume Graduate Status form (pdf) or word.
  • Download a copy of the understanding for more clarification.

Graduate Student Programs of Study and the 50% rule: OSU Graduate programs of study information must follow the regulations. Effective Fall 2005, all graduate student programs of study submitted to the Graduate School must consist of, at a minimum, 50% graduate stand alone courses.

  • To clarify the requirements and to assist in auditing the programs of study, a revised program of study form is displayed here.
  • In addition to implementation of the 50% rule, the number of blanket-numbered (501 ... 509) credits allowed on an MS or MA program of study increased from 6 to 9. For information on current status of requirements of master's degrees is located here.
  • Information in the catalog on doctoral degree requirements can be found here.
  • Information that applies to both master's and doctoral degrees can be found here.
