Tryouts

Team Structure
Oregon State University offers two cheerleading teams; one team cheers for
Women’s Sports and the other cheers for Men’s Sports. The Small
Co-ed team consists of primarily female members and performs both group stunts
and partner stunts. The Co-ed Team consists of males and females. All female
members of this team stunt in “top” positions.
Small Co-ed (Orange Squad) cheers all home volleyball and Women’s Basketball games. Members may earn performances at Football games. This team will have a maximum of 20 members.
Co-ed (Black Squad) cheers all home Football and Men’s Basketball games. This team will have a maximum of 20 members.

Requirements for the teams are as follows:
• Standing back-hand-spring
(required for women)
• Standing back- tuck (preferred)
• Stunt Ability
• Excellent Dance Ability (women only)
• Students should be of reasonable weight due to safety concerns for
the bases
• You must have applied to Oregon State University by the time of try-outs
• If you do not have one of these skills, you will be considered for
an alternate position.

Financial Assistance/ Benefits
Members of the cheerleading program will receive a stipend for their participation.
All NIKE uniforms and gear are provided free of charge. All members will have
the opportunity to receive tickets for OSU athletic events and will receive
four academic credits for the year. Travel expenses are provided to required
athletic department events. Members will have opportunity to access the OSU
athletic tutors, computer lab and workout facility along with a free membership
to Timberhill Athletic Club. Members will also receive discounted tans, waxing
and hair cuts.
Try-outs
Tryouts for the 2008-2009 Season will take place On April 8th and 9th from
5:30-10:00 PM. They consist of cheer, tumbling, stunt and dance stations.
Appropriate attire includes athletic shoes, shorts, sports bra and T-shirt.
Appearance is important. You should look your best throughout tryouts. Applications
will be due on April 7th. Application
All candidates must also have a waiver filled out completely including Medical
Insuarance information and signed by a legal guardian to participate. Waiver
Clinics
For those interested in trying out at OSU for the 2008-2009 season, there will be free stunt/tumble clinics available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00 PM in Gill on March 31st and April 2nd and 7th.
Football Spring Game- May 3, 2008 (Required for new team)
