College Prep Camp- Saturday, April 6th, Truax- 5-9 PM

Stunt Clinic- Sunday, April 7th, Truax- 5:30-7:30 PM

Stunt Clinic- Wednesday, April 10th, Gill, 5:30-7:30 PM

Cheer Tryouts- Saturday & Sunday April 13th and 14th from 2 PM- 10 PM in Gill

Dance Tryouts- Monday, April 15th 5-10 PM Gill and Tuesday, April 16th, 5-10 PM in the CLUB

Tryouts take place each April for the following season.  Appropriate attire includes athletic shoes, shorts, sports bra and T-shirt.  The OSU female uniforms are half-tops.  Physical fitness and appearance are important and are evaluated at tryouts.  You should look your best throughout the tryout clinics and process.  There is a non-refundable $35 tryout fee.

Cheerleading and Dance Tryouts will be separate. You must fill out an application (Cheer Application and/or Dance Application and a waiver)

The information below explains the program in detail.

 

Team Structure

Oregon State University offers two sideline teams; Cheerleaders and Dancers.    

Requirements for BOTH teams:

  • Excellent Dance Ability (women only)
  • Excellent Showmanship
  • Excellent Physical Fitness
  • You must be accepted to Oregon State University by the time of try-outs (student ID required)

Requirements for CHEERLEADERS:

  • Standing back-hand-spring (required for women)
  • Standing back-tuck (preferred)
  • Stunt Ability (We focus mainly on the height of your toss.)
  • *Not everyone will be able to stunt in “top” positions, due to safety concerns for the bases. The average flyer weighs less than 120 lbs.  All female cheerleaders stunt in “top” positions.   

Requirements for DANCERS:

  • Double pirouette
  • Calypso (preferred)
  • Split leap
  • Flexibility (full splits and high kicks)
  • Ability to execute pom, jazz, and hip hop dance choreography
  • Ability to pick up new dance material quickly

* If you do not have one of the required skills, you may be considered for an alternate position.
