Tryouts
Tryouts for the 2009-2010 Season have already taken place. Meet the team.
Tryouts take place early spring each year. They consist of cheer, tumbling, stunt and dance sections. Appropriate attire includes athletic shoes, shorts, sports bra (women) and T-shirt (men). The OSU female uniforms are half-tops. Physical fitness and appearance are important and are evaluated at tryouts. You should look your best throughout the tryout process. Tryouts are open to the public and there will be a $25 fee for all candidates trying out.
Applications will be available
in February. Candidates must fill out a waiver complete with Medical Insurance
information and signature of a legal guardian to participate. 


Oregon State offers two sideline teams. Each team consists of both cheerleaders and dancers. Orange Squad covers Volleyball and Women’s Basketball while Black Squad covers Football and Men’s Basketball. |

Requirements for ALL teams:
• Excellent Dance Ability
(women only)
• Excellent Showmanship
• Excellent Physical Fitness
• You must have applied to Oregon State University by the time of try-outs
Requirements for cheerleaders:
• Standing back-hand-spring
(required for women)
• Standing back- tuck (preferred)
• Stunt Ability
• Those wanting to stunt in “top” positions should be of
reasonable weight due to safety concerns for the bases.
Requirements for dancers:
• Double pirouette
• Split leap
• Flexibility
• Ability to pick up new dance material quickly
* If you do not have one of the required skills, you may be considered for an alternate position.

Financial
Assistance/ Benefits
Members of the cheerleading and dance program will receive all NIKE uniforms
and gear free of charge. All members will have the opportunity to receive
tickets for OSU athletic events and will receive four academic credits for
the year. Travel expenses are provided to required athletic department events.
Members will have opportunity to access the OSU athletic tutors, computer
lab and workout facility along with a free membership to Timberhill Athletic
Club. Members will also receive discounted tans, waxing and hair cuts.
