Cherry ermine moth

Recently larvae of cherry ermine moth, Yponomeuta padella, were found defoliating a Prunus tree in a landscape in Olympia, Washington. That is a new host record for this moth in North America. It has been trapped in low numbers in 1995 in Centralia and found causing minor damage on another host, hawthorn in the Bellingham area.
