Noctuid Moth, Heliothis phloxiphaga

Caterpillars of the noctuid moth, Heliothis phloxphaga, have been found in high numbers on some shade tree species in Oregon during 2008. They have been found on Malus, Prunus, and Ulmus species. These caterpillars have a wide host range, though, and growers should also look for them on other host plants including herbacious plants such as Achillea, Antirrhinum, Aster, and Phlox.
