Wager Honored at OSU

CORVALLIS, Ore. – John F. Wager, a professor of electrical engineering at Oregon State University, has been chosen as the Researcher of the Year by the OSU chapter of Sigma Xi, a research and scientific honor society.

Wager is being recognized for his world-leading role in the development of transparent electronics and major contributions in the areas of thin-film electroluminescent displays and compound semiconductor transistors. His research programs have produced both the first functioning transparent thin-film transistors and transparent integrated circuits.

Wager has also mentored more than 60 doctoral and master’s degree graduates, who have assumed engineering and research positions with major technology companies throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Wager, an expert in solid state materials and devices, received his doctoral degree in electrical engineering from Colorado State University in 1981 and joined the OSU faculty in 1984.
