OSU Cyber Security Professor Named IEEE Fellow


CORVALLIS, Ore. – Cetin Koc, a professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University and an international expert in information security, has been named a fellow by the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Koc was recognized for his “contributions to cryptographic engineering.” In addition to his research at OSU, he also has worked with companies such as RSA Security, Intel and Samsung. It is estimated that Koc has contributed to the design and development of more than 30 security and cryptography products in the marketplace.

“This recognition reflects the quality of our engineering faculty and the impact they are having globally,” said Terri Fiez, director of the OSU School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. “We are very proud of Professor Koc’s achievements.”

This year, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers recognized as fellows 268 of its 365,000 members. The organization’s members are leading figures in many fields, including aerospace, computers, telecommunications, biomedicine, electric power and consumer electronics.
