CORVALLIS, Ore. – Curt Pederson, the vice provost for information services at Oregon State University, has received the IT Executive of the Year Award from the Portland chapter of the Society for Information Management.
The award recognizes exceptional accomplishments in implementing new technologies and providing leadership in this field.
At OSU, Pederson has been instrumental in the creation of the Open Source Lab, an initiative to accelerate the adoption of open source computer software around the world. This has benefited OSU’s outreach, educational and research programs.
Pederson, who is also chief information officer for the Oregon University System, serves on the Oregon Telecommunications Coordinating Council, has testified to the U.S. Congress on information technology issues, and made presentations at international conferences on Oregon’s evolving role as a leader in open source technology.
